Step 1: Prepare the Cake Base
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Allow cakes to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
